Salvation Mountain Mini-Road Trip

It's amazing what you may find in their neck of the woods...all you gotta do is EXPLORE.  A couple of months ago, my friends and I took a short trip to visit the specifically world-famous "Salvation Mountain" (National Treasure in Niland City, CA).  Over twenty years ago Leonard Knight built a mountain as a tribute to God.  I had the opportunity to speak to him and imagine my surprise finding a straight-humble enthusiastic man speaking God's word in one mere sentence: "God is LOVE, just keep it simple."  Knight mentioned how the Church complicates religion for people and his only purpose in life is to spread the word.  We offered him some donations but he refused anything but not before leaving with gifts (picture magnet of the mountain).  He showed us where Sean Penn had filmed scenes from the movie "Into the Wild", about 3-4 years ago.  By the way, I recommend watching that movie which is based on true accounts.  Many scenes from the movie where shot in the Imperial Valley.  Also, my friends and I followed the yellow-road and reached the top of the mountain where you can fairly see Slab City and the Salton Sea just across.  For more information feel free to visit Leonard's official website: http://www.salvationmountain.us/index.html
