A Sneak Peek Into A Baker's Life

Bright pink overtones throughout the walls set the friendly tone as I walked-in into a new bakery shop.  This would be my first meeting with the bakery's owner, Karla Leon, whom very graciously allowed me to shadow her for almost a couple of hours.  Due to state regulations, no one was allowed into the kitchen (besides the store's staff obviously!). However, my curiosity on the post-production phase was fulfilled: cake decorating! Since my old-high school friend's b-day was just the next day, I ordered several cupcakes.  So Karla brought tons of foodstuff items and materials to her table in front of the counter.  She recounted  her business journey and I was so happy and impressed to learn that she did everything by the book (licenses and permits).  It did struck me how much she spoke of her family and going through the changes of not seeing them often now with her new business opening.  We exchanged life storiesall while she tenaciously worked on the cupcake's flower details and it looks easy  but there is tons of patience involved for sure.  By the time she was done almost a couple of hours have passed by and I realized we were having a wicked time ( I hope).  Some christmas cupcakes were also ordered and let me tell you the eggnog flavored were lush (only seasonal flavor folks).  I later learned that my friend didn't SHARED any of her b-day cupcakes...she actually hid them from relatives.  So my lovely peeps, you gotta visit Karla's bakery in Brawley.  She also does theme party cakes which are frakking amazing. Check out the pics below and visit her new shop in Brawley:

Help STOP the SOPA/PIPA Bill.

Dear Lovelies,
It has come to my attention some alarming news regarding the SOPA/PIPA bills ( Protect IP Law).  The government is working to make streaming a felony. This bill would allow the government to lock up Americans for streaming videos or music online, and is so overly broad that people who post videos of their friends singing karaoke could be prosecuted.

This is a part of an effort of a coalition of sites and groups all over the internet. And the chorus of opposition is growing every day -- the NYTimes, LATimes, and even Microsoft have come out against SOPA because of the momentum you helped create.

The Senate is going to try to pass their internet censorship bill between now and Christmas, and they could take it up as early as this week. Take action today, and if you have a website, blog, or Tumblr page, embed our call widget in your site!

Just think of the chain effect this will cause.  Prosecution and shut down of our beloved web sites.
Here's a link:   NY Times Article "Going After Pirates."
There are 3 things you can do to HELP:
Round 1:     Fill out form to have Senator Wyden  read your name during
                      his filibuster by visiting:   http://stopcensorship.org
Round 2:     Call your senators to voice your concern by visiting -
                     http://americancensorship.org  takes 5 minutes.
Round 3:   SPREAD THE WORD!!!
I have already followed the 3 steps mentioned above.  Remember we make a DIFFERENCE!
Thank you so much for your support.  If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

2nd Shooter-San Diego Wedding Assignment

So my peeps, I had the honor to work with the lovely AWESOME L.A. photographer, Karen Ard, this past weekend in San Diego.  Working as a second-shooter really pushes you creatively, and paves the way for bettering your own work.  Karen was sooo bubbly & energetic (that seriously...how does she do it?), and I learned so many details working along her.  The wedding took place at the "William D. Evans" steernwheeler, which is stationed next to the Bahia Resort Hotel.  The couple Devon & Perry took us to their happy wedding chapter and I hope the pictures below can demonstrate the charming affair.
